Office of Special Counsel (OSC)

The Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices (OSC) is responsible for enforcing the anti-discrimination provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). It receives charges from workers who believe that they have been treated unfairly in their work environment by employers and investigates discriminatory violations of the INA.

This anti-discrimination provision prohibits (1) discrimination based on citizenship/legal status, (2) discrimination based on national origin in the hiring, firing, or recruitment or referral for a fee, (3) unfair and unnecessary document requirements, and (4) retaliation or intimidation.
